What We Do

Community volunteer tutors of the ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada are trained to teach adults on a one-to-one basis the English skills they need to be successful in their jobs, families and community.

English skills training is offered freely to all adults who become trained tutors. To date, we have many adults in the five counties we currently serve (potential students) waiting for a tutor...YOU!

The Director conducts 2-hour group ESL Tutor Training Workshops several times a year.  The workshops are  free

of charge to potential volunteer tutors. You need not be a professional teacher nor have any ESL experience to teach. When a tutor is matched with a student, the tutor receives an additional one hour individual training and is then trained with a student. Instructional material is provided at no charge.

Knowledge of a foreign language is not necessary but some Spanish is helpful.
